KażinSka is a contemporary sextet playing traditional Marċi Brijjużi, with a difference. The music of KażinSka, as the name suggests, primarily focuses on the traditional każin marches, but it also introduces elements of ska and other genres into the arrangements.
The basic idea behind KażinSka is that of portraying the traditional festa music in a way that would appeal to various audiences, making it still intriguing to the die-hard festa fans while delivering this through various styles and arrangements that might also entice other people to this particular traditional music. KażinSka do this by giving their own interpretation of the banda marches’ melodies incorporating these into ska, reggae, samba, jazz, R&B and other styles. This creates a joyous atmosphere synonymous with the Festa Maltija, yet with a contemporary sound. KażinSka play mostly instrumental music with sporadic lyrics uttered in association with the particular tune. Thus, KażinSka is a band as well as an ongoing project embracing Maltese roots by combining traditional music and culture with a more contemporary sound as well as a comedic approach.
KażinSka has been playing for the past 3 years in various concerts and events, and has even toured several Band Clubs (Każini) as well. They have also played at the 2015 Milan Universal Exposition.
